In a separate article today are Framework Desktop Ryzen AI Max+ 395 vs. Ryzen 9 9950X vs. Ryzen 9 9950X3D desktop benchmarks for those wondering how the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 in a desktop form factor can hold its ground compared to the traditional Zen 5 desktop socketed processors. In this article is looking at the Framework Desktop performance relative to the Framework Laptops, the Strix Halo powered HP ZBook Ultra G1a laptops, and other relevant laptops. Again, all results from under Ubuntu 25.04.

- Core Ultra 7 256V - ASUS Zenbook S14
- Core Ultra 7 258V - X1 Carbon G13
- Core i5 1334U - Framework 12
- Ryzen 7 7840HS - Framework 16
- Ryzen 7 7840U - Framework 13
- Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 - Framework 13
- Ryzen AI Max 390 - HP ZBook Ultra G1a
- Ryzen AI Max+ 395 - Framework Desktop
- Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 395 - HP ZBook Ultra G1a

In addition to the raw performance, the CPU power consumption and performance-per-Watt was also under the microscope for looking at the potential of the Framework Desktop on Linux.

Thanks to Framework Computer for sending over the Framework Desktop for review and benchmarking in advance of today's embargo lift.
