Overall, GCC 16 compiler performance moved in the right direction with seeing various performance improvements for the programs under test built with GCC 16 compared to GCC 15.

With the increase in performance from GCC 16, the build times of compiling with GCC 16 can be slower than GCC 15 due to the additional optimization passes, etc. Here's a look at the build times of various open-source programs under GCC 15 compared to GCC 16. In any event it's a nice trade-off of slightly longer build times at the benefit of greater run-time performance.
