Benchmarks Of Google's Axion Arm-based CPU: Competitive Performance & Compelling Value
Right from the start with some HPC benchmarks there is very strong performance out of the C4A Axion instance type... Again, all instance types were tested at 48 vCPUs but in the case of Intel that does mean 24 physical cores plus HT/SMT where as the Arm instances are all using physical cores for each vCPU. There is much better performance with Axion than Ampere Altra, but not really surprising considering Ampere Altra is now a four year old platform.
There is incredible value with the C4A instances at being much cheaper than the Intel Xeon instances and the slightly higher pricing than the T2A Ampere instances is more than made up for with the much stronger performance.
Google's first Axion processors built atop the Arm Neoverse-V2 design are very potent for delivering leading performance and value in their public cloud.
