Linux 6.17 File-System Benchmarks, Including OpenZFS & Bcachefs
First up was SQlite given that this embedded database library is widely-used throughout the software world. When testing the SQLite performance with many inserts, the OpenZFS file-system was the fastest followed by EXT4 and XFS. The slowest here was Btrfs and second to last was Bcachefs.
When running two SQLite benchmarks in parallel, OpenZFS remained the fastest while F2FS and XFS were then tied for second place. Notable here is Bcachefs now falling behind Btrfs in last place.
With four and eight SQLite copies running, OpenZFS remained in first place while Bcachefs with its upstream Linux 6.17 state was in last place for its default mount options. With the greater concurrency, Btrfs was climbing in its rankings compared to at the lower counts.
