Linux 6.19's Significant ~30% Performance Boost For Old AMD Radeon GPUs

With the AMDGPU kernel driver allows the Mesa RADV Vulkan driver to function on these aging GCN 1.0 and GCN 1.1 graphics cards. RADV Vulkan driver support won't magically allow these old graphics cards to run the very latest modern AAA games, but still does allow for some older games to run with their Vulkan code paths or better performance for the likes of Steam Play (Proton) with going from Direct3D 9 and newer atop Vulkan.

Besides RADV Vulkan support out-of-the-box, when comparing the OpenGL tests that ran on both kernel drivers, on average with Linux 6.19 was 30% better performance out-of-the-box for this AMD Radeon HD 7950 graphics card compared to the legacy Radeon kernel driver. A great and long overdue move from Radeon to AMDGPU for AMD's Southern Islands and Sea Islands.

With GCN 1.0/1.1 graphics cards now on AMDGPU and with the end-of-year benchmarking, I have a -BIG- open-source graphics card benchmarking comparison in the works... Stay tuned.
