While the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X workstation is now four years old, the 64 Zen 2 cores continue to pack a fair amount of productivity power that's only getting better on the newer open-source Linux code.

It will be fun to see how well the new and old System76 Thelio Major workstations perform with the upcoming Pop!_OS 24.04 release that in addition to an even newer kernel will also be featuring System76's Rust-written COSMIC desktop environment. Pop!_OS 24.04 will be out later this year but for now if wanting the best performance out of your hardware, be sure to keep your Pop!_OS operating system up-to-date with the latest Linux kernel and other updates shipped down by System76 like newer Mesa drivers.
