Ubuntu 24.04 + Linux 6.9 Intel & AMD Server Performance
The Emerald Rapids CPU picked up another win with LAMMPS for the small Rhodopsin Protein model while the AMD EPYC processors returned to the top with the larger 20k Atoms model. The Xeon Max CPUs continue to perform very well in these HPC workloads even though they are based on Sapphire Rapids.
Some of these benchmarks / software under test have also been updated since the prior AMD EPYC / Intel Xeon comparisons a few months back.
All of these tested server processors were running very well with the Linux 6.9 kernel upgrade atop an otherwise stock Ubuntu 24.04 LTS installation.
Xeon Max always flaunts its HBM2e memory with the HPCG benchmark.
