For the proprietary Chaos Group V-RAY renderer that is native to each platform, both the AMD and Intel laptops experienced better performance on Linux than Windows... No real surprise given that we've long seen 3D renderers demonstrate better performance on Linux. The AMD Strix Point laptop also performs much better thanks to having SMT support unlike the Lunar Lake laptop.

With Appleseed this physically-based renderer yielded a bit of a difference between Windows and Linux on the two Lenovo ThinkPad laptops. The AMD Strix Point performance was close under Windows and Linux while for the Intel Core Ultra 7 Lunar Lake laptop it was seeing significantly better performance on Ubuntu 25.04 than out-of-the-box on Windows.

Both the AMD and Intel laptops saw better performance for the IndigoBench renderer under Ubuntu 25.04 than with Microsoft Windows 11 Pro.

The Blender open-source 3D modeling software has long performed much better on Linux than Windows for CPU-based rendering.
