ASTC texture encoding was another test case native to Windows and Linux where the performance was much better for the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V / ThinkPad X1 Carbon on Linux but around the same performance level for the AMD Strix Point laptop during the more strenuous test cases. In the less demanding ASTC benchmarks, Linux was actually slower than Windows 11 on both ThinkPad laptops.
👁 LAME MP3 Encoding benchmark with settings of WAV To MP3. Lunar Lake: Ubuntu 25.04 was the fastest.
MP3 encoding with LAME and FLAC audio encoding were both faster on Linux than Windows.
Linux allowed Lunar Lake to be competitive to the 8-core Strix Point laptop for Primesieve prime number generation.
Lunar Lake enjoyed a nice boost on Linux for the asmFish Assembly-written chess benchmark.
