AMD Radeon RX 9070 Ray-Tracing Performance Improving With Mesa 25.2

With the demanding GravityMark Vulkan benchmark, the ray-traced scenes enjoyed significant gains on the AMD Radeon RX 9070 under Linux. The Vulkan ray-tracing performance for GravityMark was around 16% faster with Mesa 25.2-devel compared to the Ubuntu 25.04 out-of-the-box performance on this RDNA4 graphics card.

Also worth noting is that there wasn't any significant power difference for the Radeon RX 9070 with this faster ray-tracing performance.

Long story short, the Radeon ray-tracing performance with the RADV Vulkan driver is the exciting aspect to look at for Mesa 25.2 and the main area improvement for RDNA4 compared to the out-of-the-box performance on the likes of Ubuntu 25.04. More Mesa 25.2 benchmarks on other Radeon GPUs as well as Intel and NVIDIA/NVK hardware coming soon ahead of the Mesa 25.2 stable release in August.
