NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Linux GPU Compute Performance

Kicking off this NVIDIA GPU compute Linux benchmarking with Blender 4.3 and using the OptiX back-end, the GeForce RTX 5080 performance was ahead of the RTX 4080 / 4080 SUPER as would be expected but not yet reaching the GeForce RTX 4090 level of performance.

For some cases the RTX 5080 was only slightly faster than the RTX 4080 series.

The GeForce RTX 5080 power consumption with Blender was higher than the GeForce RTX 4080 series but below the GeForce RTX 3080 power consumption.

With the proprietary V-RAY renderer the GeForce RTX 5080 performance over the RTX 4080 was a bit more impressive with 1.23x the performance but still a ways behind the RTX 4090 level of rendering performance. For those still using a GeForce RTX 3080, the RTX 5080 was at 2.1x the performance for V-RAY.

The power efficiency of the GeForce RTX 5080 was similar to the RTX 4080 in V-RAY.

With the OpenCL-powered IndigoBench there were just small gains with the RTX 5080 and not nearly as interesting as the leap from the RTX 4090 to RTX 5090.
