NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Linux Performance
First up are a few of the Steam Play titles tested of Windows games running on Linux. To little surprise, the performance is right up there for what one would expect for the RTX 3080 Ti: midway between the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090.
What is interesting on the Linux side is ultimately how the performance pans out against AMD Radeon graphics with their open-source driver stack. It depends upon the game, but in some cases like DiRT Rally 2.0 running under Steam Play, the RTX 3080 Ti matches the RX 6800 XT. But in this case too, the RTX 3080 Ti performs similar to the RTX 3090 at both 1440p and 4K. On the AMD side it also depends which of the multiple AMD Linux Vulkan driver options you choose.
Unfortunately I still have no Radeon RX 6900 series GPU for comparison to see how it stacks up against the top-of-the-line NVIDIA Ampere graphics cards.
