In some benchmarks, the newer GCC compiler does yield slightly lower performance on the newer openSUSE release.
The Golang performance saw some improvements with OpenSUSE Leap 15.0 thanks to the newer packages.
The x264 video encoding performance was slightly lower when built with GCC 7 rather than GCC 4.8.
While in many other CPU focused tests, the results were comparable.
