Oracle OCI Compute E6 Benchmarks For Leading AMD EPYC Turin Performance In The Cloud
Besides the competitive performance against the alternative public cloud providers, Oracle E6 was proving to be a strong generational upgrade over Oracle E5 too.
When taking the geo mean of over 130 benchmarks carried out across the different public cloud instances, the Oracle E6 results were admirable. The Oracle Compute Cloud E6 8 OCPU instance nearly matched the Oracle E5 16 OCPU instance. On a generational basis from Oracle E5 to E6 shapes, the 8 OCPU instance was at 1.52x the performance and the 16 OCPU instance saw a 1.5x generational uplift as well. Very strong gains for Oracle E6 thanks to moving from 4th Gen AMD EPYC (EPYC 9J14 / Genoa) to 5th Gen AMD EPYC (EPYC 9J45 / Turin) with the faster DDR5 memory, full 512-bit data path AVX-512, and other architectural improvements with these Zen 5 server processors.
The Oracle OCI E6 8 OCPU instance also came out ahead of the other 16 vCPU instances tested across the Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and Amazon AWS public clouds.
