The Significant Performance Gains For Radeon RADV Ray-Tracing Performance In 2025
For the rasterized games with RadeonSI OpenGL and RADV Vulkan there wasn't too much movement in these tests. In fact, for some titles like HITMAN the performance was slightly lower now than back at launch, but more features have been added to the driver and other changes. Due to the nature of Steam and not being able to lock-in versions / rollback, it's also possible HITMAN updates have regressed the performance.
Cyberpunk 2077 was also running more reliably now with the EOY2025 driver stack than back in February when it was more prone to early crashes.
For the most part the performance was rather flat this year for traditional rasterized games on the RADV Vulkan driver on these recent graphics cards.
But when hitting Vulkan ray-tracing workloads is where there were significant gains in performance over the course of 2025. There were some minor gains found with the prior RDNA3-based Radeon RX 7900 XTX but the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT especially saw very significant improvements to Vulkan ray-tracing this year on RADV.
