The Significant Performance Gains For Radeon RADV Ray-Tracing Performance In 2025

It was a similar story with GravityMark where there were only some minor performance improvements in its conventional render path when comparing the driver state from early this year to now at the end of 2025.

But once making use of Vulkan ray-tracing the very significant improvements made since the RDNA4 launch are apparent.

It will be very exciting to see where RADV and the broader open-source AMD driver stack end up in 2026 now that AMD is fully backing the Mesa drivers with no more AMDVLK/proprietary options, Valve's continued investments into open-source AMD Linux graphics, and all the other exciting ecosystem advancements.
