If carrying out a lot of image encoding/transcoding to WebP for web serving purposes, Windows 11 offered similar performance to the tested Linux distributions depending upon image encode settings.
For JPEG-XL image encoding, Windows 11 tended to be the slowest while Intel's Clear Linux with its aggressive defaults was leading in these source-based benchmarks.
AVIF (AV1 image) encoding was the slowest on Windows 11 and the fastest on Clear Linux and CentOS Stream 9 for this Ryzen 9 ASRock Rack server.
