The MP3 encoding performance using LAME between the three Linux distributions were close, but Kubuntu 9.10 ended up with the best time.
The FFmpeg encoding performance was also close between the three test candidates.
Sabayon 5.1 stepped up its Gcrypt performance compared to Sabayon 4.2, but this only brought it up to speed with Kubuntu 9.10.
