The disk performance has improved slightly for this SSD storage device and Ubuntu's continued use of the EXT4 file-system. With some of these disk I/O benchmarks, the improvements are quite noticeable. Besides EXT4 continuing to evolve, there has also been much progress on the I/O schedulers and block layer over the past three years.
