The HD Graphics 5500 aren't too capable of playing many modern games, but the Intel OpenGL performance has advanced a heck of a lot over the past three years. Besides clearly better performance, the Intel i965 Mesa driver has advanced from OpenGL 3.3 to OpenGL 4.5. The Intel ANV Vulkan driver has also come about along with other improvements/features to the Mesa open-source driver stack.
