Linux 4.2 Ubuntu 15.10 HDD Tests: XFS Leads Over EXT4, Btrfs
For SQLite, EXT4 was the fastest file-system tested followed by XFS a rather measurable distance away. Btrfs by default due to its copy-on-write nature is known not to perform too well out-of-the-box for database workloads.
Switching over to FIO, Btrfs had a rather dramatic lead in the random write performance over EXT4 and XFS.
For sequential writes, XFS took the lead followed by EXT4.
XFS was leading as well with the FS-Mark 1000 file test.
