With all of the tested distributions finally on GCC 6, the performance isn't different for some computational workloads. Then again, GCC 7 will be out shortly and thus the rolling-release distributions may soon be able to benefit from that. GCC 7 will not be found in Ubuntu 17.04.
Clear Linux pulls ahead in the heavy computational tests where its aggressive compiler optimizations and other performance tweaks mean a difference.
