With the Tesseract open-source OpenGL game, the performance pulled back with GNOME on Wayland, MATE on X.Org, and Xfce on X.Org but this game is still easily playable even at 4K.
The Linux-native Thrones of Britannia title was another Steam game not seeing much of a difference between these desktop options on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
The Unigine engine is another one of the few cases where the (X)Wayland performance is suffering.
