Ubuntu 21.04 Enjoys Better Performance But Still No Match To Intel's Clear Linux
Ubuntu 21.04 is definitely moving in the right direction and enjoying better performance than its prior release(s) from what we have seen at large. Even more benchmark results can be found via this OpenBenchmarking.org result file.
While Ubuntu 21.04 is running faster, the Clear Linux results still show there is room for greater performance. Out of nearly 100 tests, Ubuntu 21.04 was about 4% faster than Ubuntu 20.10 overall while Intel's Clear Linux had a 8% advantage over the new Ubuntu 21.04 "Hirsute Hippo" release. It's too bad though that Clear Linux has been focusing less on the Linux desktop these days as is the cadence of their rolling release images continuing to be far less frequent than in the past as well as any other news to report on new optimizations, etc.
These Ubuntu 21.04 vs. 20.10 findings jive with what we continue to see on other systems in the lab and will have any other interesting Ubuntu 21.04 performance metrics in the days ahead.
