An Early Run With Ubuntu 26.04 On AMD EPYC Turin - The Current Performance Gains Over Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Over Ubuntu 25.10 not seeing much change at this stage even with the bump to Linux 6.18 but will hopefully be more interesting once the future Linux 6.20~7.0 kernel lands in the Ubuntu 26.04 archive.
There wasn't anything too exciting out of this initial round of still very early Ubuntu 26.04 benchmarks compared to Ubuntu 25.10. But over Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, this newer Ubuntu Linux state continues looking much more performant on 5th Gen AMD EPYC "Turin" than the two year old Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. You'd likely see similar outcome too with Intel Xeon 6 on the newer Ubuntu releases.
As the Ubuntu 26.04 official Long Term Support release approaches in April, I'll be back around with plenty more benchmarks and on varying hardware platforms.
