In a quick disk test inside the VM by running the PostMark mail server, upgrading from VMware Fusion 5.0.3 to 6.0.0 yielded a nice boost in performance from the Haswell MacBook Air running Mac OS X.
The real interesting gains in performance from VMware Fusion 5.0.3 to VMware Fusion 6.0.0 were on the 3D side. The OpenGL acceleration from the Ubuntu 13.04 guest was much faster with VMware Fusion 6.
