The overall Unity 8 experience was smooth and not a huge departure from Unity 7 in terms of usability. If you have used Unity 7, it's easy to get the hang of Unity 8 with its side-bar, overall layout, etc. But with Unity 8 there is scopes and other improvements, along with still pursuing their converged approach. Compared to Unity 7, the application area doesn't take over the entire screen and the reworked system area on the right hand side is rather nice.

The overall Unity 8 shell was operating fine and quite fluid.

The new systems setting area is interesting.

Ubuntu's web browser was also working out fine on the desktop, albeit far more basic than Firefox or Chrome/Chromium.

When trying to access the "More apps in the store", that doesn't appear to be wired up yet. GNOME Software was accessible though. As you can see, however, with non-native Mir / Unity 8 applications, currently there are dual toolbars rendered at the top of the windows.

When firing up other programs, yep, still a dual toolbar.
