- Relevanssi works best with WordPress 6+. We test all new releases with WP versions 6.3 and above. Older WP versions (up to 5.9) may work, but compatibility is not tested or guaranteed.
- Relevanssi requires PHP 7.2 and is tested to be compatible with PHP 8+.
- MySQL and MariaDB requirements are the same as with WordPress. MariaDB is likely faster.
- Some themes may not be 100% compatible with all features of Relevanssi. See theme compatibility posts.
- Some plugins can cause conflicts with Relevanssi. Here’s a list of known conflicts.
- Using advanced features of Relevanssi requires some understanding of PHP and WordPress templates.

Yes! Relevanssi Premium can read the text contents of PDF files and find PDFs based on their content. The PDF indexing is done using an external web service, making it fast, reliable and very light on your server.
Relevanssi can index the following things:
- posts (all post types: posts, pages, custom post types)
- user profiles (in Premium)
- taxonomy terms (in Premium)
If the data you want to index doesn’t fall into these three categories (e.g., if it resides in a different database table), Relevanssi can’t access it.
Adding all sorts of data to the posts Relevanssi index is possible, but the basic unit is a post. If something isn’t a post (or a user profile or a taxonomy term, which Relevanssi can make look like a post), nothing can be done about it.
Relevanssi Premium Annual license is a one-off payment (not an automatically renewing subscription) that buys you a year of support and upgrades. Once the year has passed, you will receive an email telling you your license has expired and offering you a 20% discount for renewing it.
You’ll enjoy another year of upgrades and support if you decide to renew. If you don’t renew, the plugin will continue to work, but you won’t be eligible for support and upgrades.
If you buy a Permanent license, your license will be good forever and won’t ever expire.

This plugin is exactly what I needed. I’m so happy I found it. Having only the titles, excerpts. and a small amount of content from my recipe pages used in the built-in WordPress search was really limiting. My taxonomies contained all kinds of information people would search for (ingredients, meal/course, dietary restrictions, tags) and with Relevanssi, this is all now searchable. And I see I can also add synonyms, which will be great for certain ingredients that are called different things depending on location (people will be able to search courgette and find my recipes with zucchini). In addition to this, I initially encountered an issue (completely of my own making) and the creator of the plugin was very responsive and quite easily managed to identify the problem once I provided enough detail of the issue. In less than 24 hours, my problem was solved. Thank you Mikko! Highly recommend this plugin.
