When we think of fast-paced months full of product launches, July usually isn't one that comes to mind. It's tough to follow up June, which saw the Computex 2024 event and a slew of new PC gaming handheld announcements. However, last month managed to impress with a few more great laptops powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chipset and brand-new foldables from Motorola and Samsung. After reviewing 40 products in July 2024, here's a list of the absolute best of the best. As you'll see throughout, now is an absolutely fantastic time to upgrade your thin-and-light Windows laptop or folding phone.

There's a whole new lineup of devices that are going to shake up the handheld PC gaming space.

7 OnePlus Watch 2R

This is an outstanding value pick above all else, and that matters

As tech enthusiasts, we're known to look for the best of the best — no matter how much it costs. However, sometimes you just need the best product you can get for the least amount of cash. That's the story of the OnePlus Watch 2R. It's a lower-spec version of the OnePlus Watch 2 that hits an attractive $230 price point. Somehow, OnePlus managed to keep everything we loved about the higher-priced version, most notably the 100-hour battery life. It puts other Wear OS watches to shame, despite the budget price tag.

I also love the minimalist aluminum design, which makes for a lighter and more comfortable wrist presence. There's a great-looking green colorway and features a white-and-green faux chronometer to match. If you gave me $250 or less to spend on a smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch 2R is the one I'm buying.

The OnePlus Watch 2R is the budget variant of the OnePlus Watch 2, which offers some of the best battery life of any Wear OS watch. It shares a lot of similarities with its more-expensive counterpart, but features a different design with two side buttons. For a low price, you still get great battery life, Wear OS 4, and basic fitness tracking.

6 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

Maybe not the best, but certainly the most polished big-screen foldable

Next up is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which still deserves a spot on this list despite being a somewhat underwhelming update. Yes, other foldables are thinner and lighter — in fact, the OnePlus Open is still our top pick for the best folding phone. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is the most polished folding phone you can buy, and arguably has the best design. Samsung is also crushing it with Galaxy AI, a suite of artificial intelligence features that can be actually useful. There were some minor changes that had a big impact, such as a lighter and thinner design with wider screens. Plus, Samsung's build quality in foldables, especially when it comes to the hinge, is unmatched.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is thinner and lighter than the Fold 5 while boasting more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. But the biggest update this year may be Galaxy AI.

5 Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra

It's the most powerful smartwatch for Android users

If you've paid top-dollar for a Samsung phone and want a beastly smartwatch to match, look no further than the Galaxy Watch Ultra. As soon as you look past the design — which could be seen as a shameless Apple Watch Ultra ripoff — you'll realize that the Galaxy Watch Ultra is actually a fantastic Android smartwatch. It has an Exynos W1000 processor, a large 47mm case size, and plenty of sensors. Whether you want versatile and reliable GPS tracking, long battery life, or AI-assisted health features, you're covered with the Galaxy Watch Ultra. You'll have to pay a premium for the privilege, though.

4 Asus Vivobook S 15

Great performance and efficiency paired with a stunning design

So, you want a Snapdragon X laptop? Consider the Asus Vivobook S 15, which offers fantastic performance while retaining the excellent battery life Snapdragon laptops are known for. We love that the Vivobook gives you the same great performance whether you're connected to AC power or you're simply using the battery, and sleep mode has insanely low power draw. Additionally, the premium-feeling design and a bright OLED display with great color accuracy. The price is right, but unfortunately it might not satisfy those who want a higher-end product in Asus' Zenbook line.

3 Motorola Razr+ (2024)

The best clamshell foldable in the world just got better

Motorola gave Samsung some much-needed competition in the clamshell foldable space last year with the Razr+ (2023). Unfortunately, Samsung didn't respond well with the middling Z Flip 6, and Motorola somehow managed to extend its lead with the new Razr+ (2024). It still hits that sweet $1,000 price point while offering a ton of upgrades, including a 4-inch cover display that's actually bigger than an iPhone 5s. It's powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 mobile platform, has a giant 6.9-inch pOLED internal display, and features a 32MP main camera sensor.

Battery life is improved with a 4,000mAh capacity, and charging is faster with 45W support. Plus, the Razr+ (2024) includes all the benefits you're used to seeing from a flip phone, like a compact design and the ability to use the rear camera as a selfie camera.

The 2024 Motorola Razr+ features a few subtle (but welcome) upgrades over its predecessor. These include a new Snapdragon processor, boosted RAM, a larger cover display, and useful AI features.

1 Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7460

It's a capable performer with Intel Core Ultra and a discrete GPU for under $1,500

Finishing things off is the Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7460, which is a mid-range laptop that has the performance chops to do a little bit of everything. It hits the sub-$1,500 price point, and it's competitive in that bracket with a 3.8-GHz Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, 16GB of DDR5 5600MT/s RAM, a 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, integrated Intel Arc Graphics, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. Our reviewer found that the Inspiron 16 Plus 7460 takes some of the best parts of the Latitude and XPS lines, combining to form an excellent mid-ranger. Though there are more powerful laptops you can buy, this one is a crowd-pleaser that aims to meet the needs of everyone.

The laptop can also last nearly ten hours of battery life. Best of all, this capable performer comes in just under $1,500.

It's the perfect time to buy a new laptop or foldable

Last month, the highlights were certainly product launches by Samsung and Motorola. The Galaxy Unpacked event brought a new Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, with the former being more impressive than the latter. There was also the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which turned out to be more than an Apple Watch Ultra copycat. Of course, we can't forget Motorola, which held onto its clamshell foldable crown with the new Razr+ (2024). And if you're into laptops, more Snapdragon X devices trickled in for review, and they continue to impress. Put simply, for those wanting a foldable or a thin-and-light laptop, what are you waiting for?
