It might be 2025, but let’s be real — 64GB USB drives and microSD cards are still everywhere. They’re cheap, reliable, and often the first thing you grab when you need a backup or plan a quick gaming escape.

While modern games can balloon past 100 GBs like it’s nothing, that doesn’t mean smaller storage means smaller experiences. Whether you’re traveling light, gaming on a handheld PC, or just trying to make the most of limited space, there’s still a goldmine of incredible games that fit in under 64 GB total — and every single one is worth your time.

15 Max Payne 2

Love, angst, and a painkiller addiction

Max Payne 2 taught us that games could tell love stories as well, and honestly, I’ve yet to see one do it better than Remedy did with this game. 22 years old now, Max Payne 2 still hits hard with its gritty tone and a heartbreaking, tragic love-story defined by betrayal and painkillers.

If you’ve got a handheld PC and want to get lost in a noir tale of a man with nothing to lose, Max Payne 2 needs to be on that SD card of yours, coming in at a featherlight 1.5 GB of required space. The

His journey deeper into his own personal hell continues.

The greatest gaming trilogies I won't ever forget

Some trilogies aren't just games — they are lifelong companions I'll never stop loving or talking about.

14 Undertale – 200 MB that’ll mess you up (emotionally)

A pint-sized emotional experience

Undertale is the kind of game you won’t forget. It might only take up 200 MB on your drive, but the emotional damage it can cause? Immeasurable. Made by one guy by himself, Undertale is a quirky RPG that breaks the fourth wall, shatters expectations, and somehow makes you feel guilty for playing like a traditional gamer.

A must-play, formative experience that leaves a powerful impact, this one tells a story that will challenge what you think games can be. Also, it runs on a toaster. So even if all you’ve got is a battered SD card and some free time, Undertale has you covered.

In Undertale, you play as a child who has dropped into the Underground, a secluded world beneath Earth that is wrapped by a magical barrier. As you try to find your way back home, you will have to face monsters and either kill them or spare their lives. The course of action you opt for will impact how the plot evolves and you progress.

13 Assassin's Creed

No patches, no updates. Just you, il mentore

Before this legendary series went full RPG, the very first Assassin’s Creed was something quieter — patient stealth, towering climbs, and the poetic desolation of the Holy Land. Is it clunky by today’s standards? Absolutely. Has it still aged remarkably well? Definitely.

There’s not a barrage of mechanics to remember, and just a simple story with memorable characters to take in. After all, this is the tale of the most legendary assassin of them all, and for all of 7 GB on your disk drive, it will remind you just how nice it is to sometimes revisit the roots of the franchise you’ve come to develop a love-hate relationship with.

12 Superhot

Minimalist dopamine delivery

“Time moves when you move.” This single mechanic was all it took to turn Superhot into a modern classic. Drenched in style and striking minimalism, it turns every firefight into a slow-motion puzzle where you feel like Neo from The Matrix — if he was made of glass and glitchy code.

At just 4 GB, Superhot is one of the sleekest and smartest shooters ever made, perfect for a bite-sized adrenaline rush. And thanks to its clean aesthetic, it runs smooth as butter even on modest hardware. This one certainly punches way above its weight, and every second of it feels cooler than you deserve.

11 Gris

Emotions written in watercolor

Gris isn’t just a game — it’s a mood. A gorgeously hand-painted platformer, Gris explores grief through color, motion, and music. Like its titular character, Gris is featherlight, invoking powerful emotions in players by occupying just 4 GB on your drives.

It’s one of those rare games that doesn’t need words to say something powerful, and it lingers long after you finish it. If you’ve got limited space but need a short, stunning reminder that video games can be art — true, honest-to-goodness art — Gris will quietly break your heart and help put it back together again.

10 Moving Out 2

Furniture Arrangement & Relocation Technicians is a bit of a mouthful

Having Moving Out 2 on your disk drive, especially for the modest space it takes up, is a no-brainer. Think Overcooked but with couches, TVs, and the occasional angry ostrich. A perfect couch co-op game you could always play with your partner, Moving Out 2 is loud, silly, and deeply unserious in the best way possible.

All it asks of you is 4 GB of space to bring its goofy chaos to your handheld, your laptop, or your SD card, wherever you go. If you want a game for a road trip or weekend getaway, this one’s a winner. It’s proof that small games can bring big laughs, especially when you're flinging a microwave out a second-story window with a friend.

9 Super Meat Boy

Pain and glory, all for the girl

This one’s for the masochists — the speedrunners, the perfectionists, and the jump-timing obsessives. Super Meat Boy remains one of my favorite games ever, and also one of the most brutal platformers I’ve ever touched.

There’s literally zero fat on this 500 MB game (besides the meat, of course), and its sheer responsiveness makes each failure — and there will be a lot of it — feel like your fault in the most addictive way possible. Handheld or not, Super Meat Boy never stops being frustratingly fun, and it’s claimed a permanent spot of 500 MBs on my drive. If you’ve got half a gig of space and a desire to feel both pride and pain, Super Meat Boy is ready to ruin your thumbs.

8 Journey

Revisiting a dream you’re not sure you had

It’s wild how Journey says so much without a single spoken word. A masterpiece that started life as a PlayStation exclusive, Journey throws you into a vast desert with nothing but a scarf and the faint hope that someone else is out there with you.

It’s pretty brief — a couple of hours long at best — but in that time, it manages to tell a story about connection, perseverance, and transcendence. Plus, it holds the honor of being the first game ever to be nominated for a Grammy for its soundtrack. If you’ve only got a sliver of space left and want something quietly unforgettable, Journey will get you there.

5 games I regret not playing sooner

These five games stayed in my backlog for far too long—and I regret not playing them sooner.

7 Dead Cells

Musical misery

Dead Cells is what happens when you mix the punishing joy of roguelikes with the tightness of a side-scrolling action game, letting it ferment into something nasty and beautiful. In this roguelike, the runs are short, the deaths are many, and the build variety is ridiculous.

Plus, for only 500MB, it gives you an all-you-can-take deal at the fun buffet, which is just unfair for how much content it packs in. You could easily sink dozens of hours into this and still find a new weapon combo that makes you feel like a genius. Dead Cells is sleek, replayable, and tailor-made for low-storage freedom.

6 Crypt of the NecroDancer

Rhythm-fueled dungeon-crawling

If a dungeon crawler gets bitten by a dance mat, Crypt of the NecroDancer is what you get. At the front and center of it all is a killer soundtrack — and you have to time every move to its beat. The result? A pulse-pounding groove session that never lets you rest on your feet.

Crypt of the NecroDancer is tough, weird, and incredibly addictive — especially when you realize you’re still bobbing your head as a skeleton wrecks you. For just 1.6 GB on your drive, this game is a fantastic indie experience that deserves a place in every game library, especially the portable ones.
