PC gaming has everything you could possibly want to play, with quite literally thousands upon thousands of games you can play split across dozens of platforms. That said, there’s nothing more tantalizing than a game you can’t play.

Despite the era of console exclusives fading into the past, there are still plenty of games locked behind either time or special release conditions that have kept certain rather excellent games off of PCs. Whether you’re looking to dust off an old console for some classic gaming or want to ponder at the rational behind some of gaming's lost classics, we gathered some of most wanted games across multiple generations that PC fans are dying to play all in one place, just for you.

Ranking the 12 best Super Mario games of all time

The Super Mario games are among the best gaming has ever seen, but which of them is the greatest of all time?

10 Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Odds of being released: probably pretty high

The godfather of the Metroidvania genre, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night started off as a PlayStation exclusive and has more or less stayed there over the years. It has seen its fair share of ports, but they’ve mostly been for consoles and mobile devices. That said, with the success of the Castlevania animated series, there likely wouldn’t be a better time than now for Konami to release this amazing game.

Often heralded as one of the best games ever made, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is perhaps one of the best non-linear exploration adventure games, with a massive castle to explore, memorable bosses to take down, and one of the coolest protagonists to ever grace gaming.

9 God Hand

Odds of being released: practically none

If you’re not familiar with God Hand, don’t be surprised. This PlayStation 2 exclusive was released in 2006 to rather dismal reviews. The beat 'em up game follows Gene, the holder of the God Hand technique, in an adventure that mixes religious imagery with some fascinatingly weird western and Japanese humor.

God Hand has an absolutely revolutionary combat system, allowing you to string near endless combos and then punish you for being too good with a scaling difficulty. If you become too reliant on dodging, for example, the game will dish out more damage to you when an enemy attack finally does hit.

There is plenty of fair criticism about the game’s somewhat lackluster story and repetitive environments, but that’s not why you’re playing God Hand. It's to suplex a gorilla or combo kick an enemy into the upper stratosphere.

8 Mega Man Legends & Legends 2

Odds of being released: basically zero

There is so much love for Mega Man Legends among fans that players have been begging Capcom to release these games for modern gamers, though the odds of that happening are practically non-existant. Despite the very vocal love of the branch off series, none of the games sold particularly well on any platform, all but sealing the coffin of the action game.

Not helping the situation are a few controversies surrounding the game, including real world product placements of some items in the game and a rather nasty controversy with one of the voice actors. There was a PC release of the game initially back in 2001 and 2003 respectively, but they have long been wiped off the internet for legal distribution.

Fun little fact, a third entry in the beloved series was announced by Capcom in 2010, but it was canceled less than a year later. Thanks, Capcom!

7 Silent Hill

Odds of being released: possible, but don’t get your hopes up

Konami is back on this list with another classic game in a beloved series that it straight up refuses to release in any capacity, though this time we’re in the survival horror genre with the PlayStation exclusive, Silent Hill.

Everything about this game is great, despite being the first game in a new series. From the ethereal town of the titular Silent Hill to the gooey and symbolic enemies, there is plenty there to frighten players even to this day.

The oddest thing about the original Silent Hill is that Konami skipped right over it to do a ground up remake of Silent Hill 2. That alone gives hope that Harry Mason might not be stuck in the purgatory of the original PlayStation for long.

6 Pokémon Conquest

Odds of being released: absolutely not

Pokémon Conquest is actually a mash-up with another series, a mostly Japanese exclusive series called Nobunaga's Ambition, and brings the traditionally turn-based Pokémon series into a tactical roleplaying game in this Nintendo DS exclusive.

The game has a completely absurd story, with the player looking to unify the 17 kingdoms of the Ransei Region, culminating in a battle against Nobunaga himself and his partner, Pokémon Zekrom. Despite being developed by Tecmo Koei, the game feels like a spiritual successor to Pokémon Legends: Arceus in design and uniqueness. Since Pokémon Conquest was initially on the DS and is not a direct game from The Pokémon Company, the odds might as well be zero of seeing this game on PC or anywhere else.

5 The Last Guardian

Odds of being released: not likely, but there is a chance

Endlessly praised for its uniqueness in design, direction, and utterly beautiful depiction of the massive griffin-like Trico, The Last Guardian is nothing short of an achievement in game design. The longer you play, the better connection that the unnamed protagonist and Trico share, opening up new ways to explore and eventually escape a massive prison that both characters find themselves trapped in.

The Last Guardian was plagued with plenty of development delays, surviving even the closure of the original developer, Team Ico, and more than eight years of development hell until the team came back together as GenDesign. The Last Guardian was backed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and as it was released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, expecting a PC release might be a bit of a stretch.

That said, a fair number of other PlayStation exclusives have made their way to PC, including Death Stranding, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Ghost of Tsushima, so it might not entirely be out of the picture.

4 The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Odds of being released: Nintendo doesn’t have to

Perhaps one of the best Legend of Zelda games of all time, Tears of the Kingdom takes Link on an adventure in scale that has never before been seen in the series. You can explore every square inch of Hyrule at your own pace, and still find something new when you come back.

The simplest rationale for not releasing Tears of the Kingdom to PC or any other platform is that Nintendo simply doesn’t have to. The Nintendo Switch has sold like gangbusters, with Tears of the Kingdom and its prequel, Breath of the Wild, selling more than a combined 50 million copies worldwide.

Since the Nintendo Switch 2 is on its way in 2025, it is a safe bet to assume some type of revamped edition of Tears of the Kingdom will be released alongside it, making a PC release all but guaranteed to never happen.

3 Super Mario Party Jamboree

Odds of being released: less than zero

If The Legend of Zelda is never coming to the PC, you can bet that the little red plumber never will either. Nintendo’s mascot and one of the most iconic characters in gaming history might have dipped his toes on other platforms in the past, but given the success of Nintendo since the release of the Wii, it is doubtful that it will ever happen again.

12 PC games that are so bad, they're worth playing anyway

Each of these PC games is terrible in its own right, but they're all so, so good.

Even if there was a chance to play the pinnacle of Mario Party games on PC, there are so many mini-games that involve motion controls with the Switch’s Joy Cons that much of the joy from Super Mario Party Jamboree would be lost.

2 Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Odds of being released: higher than you might think, but not great

One of the most infamous PlayStation 3 console exclusives, Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has never made the jump to PC, nor any other platform, despite other Metal Gear Solid games releasing on other consoles. Perhaps the most reasonable explanation for this is that the game uses the PlayStation 3’s built-in emulator to play a small portion of the original Metal Gear Solid game during a flashback.

Even more damning, MGS4 remained a Sony exclusive simply because it would have been too difficult to produce the number of disks required to store the game. The disk storage size on the Xbox 360 was too small to hold the game without an unreasonable number of disks and if Kojima couldn’t justify porting the game to Microsoft’s Xbox 360, they weren’t going to bother with a PC release either.

That said, there is a perfect opportunity to release MGS4. In 2024, the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 released on Steam, and while it excluded Guns of the Patriot, a second volume, including the incredible game, would make perfect sense.

1 Bloodborne

Odds of being released: definitely coming soon (maybe, probably not though)

Every few months, without fail, a new rumor circulates about the PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborn by FromSoftware is definitely headed to PC now and it's definitely not fake this time, we swear. The stellar action roleplaying game takes players to the gothic streets of Yharnam, where eldritch gods have tainted the blood of its citizens and the madness of a never-ending night plagues the minds of everyone who remains.

Bloodborne stands out among FromSoftware’s excellent library of games for its unique approach to combat and a rather dramatic departure in terms of environment. Castles and dungeons are traded for tight city streets in Bloodborne, where remnants of the recently living can be found everywhere instead of a necropolis filled with skeletons.

Notably, the 2020 remake of Demon’s Souls also remains a PlayStation exclusive, despite the obvious success of the series. Whatever Sony’s reasons are for locking Bloodborne to the outdated PlayStation 4, it hasn’t stopped fans from begging Sony to release Bloodborne on PC.

Keep those exclusives alive in your heart

The thing with exclusives like those found here is that even though they may be locked behind generational platforms or console exclusives, no one can take away the experiences you’ve had with those games. And if you haven’t had the opportunity to play these games, you can still experience these amazing adventures through gameplay footage online.
