If you are a long-time Windows user, you have likely heard of God Mode or at least enabled it to see what it has to offer. Once enabled, you can access over 200 different settings and features. These features are often buried deep in the Windows environment and are not immediately apparent when you open the Control Panel.

You can access features in the Settings app on Windows 11 to manage your system, but some features may not have been migrated yet. Some users go all-in on the Settings app and forget about the Control Panel. But God Mode provides a unique experience that displays settings and features you may not know Windows even has.

You can pin the God Mode folder to the Start menu or Quick Access in File Explorer for easier access. Since there are so many features, you can search for items from the search field in the top right corner of File Explorer. You can also sort them by name, application, or keywords for easy access. But what are the ones that are worth using?

6 BitLocker

Protect your data through disk encryption

BitLocker encryption was initially launched with Windows 7, and it helps protect data on fixed, local, and removable drives. Once turned on, it scrambles the data on your drive using difficult-to-break AES encryption. It can only be accessed using a password, PIN, or Windows Hello that you set up. It also provides backup recovery keys you can use in case you forget your password.

While you can access the BitLocker encryption feature from the Control Panel, it’s also front and center in your God Mode folder. The feature encrypts your local disk and USB drives for portable data protection while moving between PCs. In addition, you can back up your BitLocker recovery key, suspend protection, or turn it off entirely.

5 Network management

Manage and troubleshoot network connectivity

It wastes valuable time finding network features using complex navigation to access settings hidden in the Control Panel interface. That can be especially true when trying to find the network features hidden behind what you need. God Mode has them sorted for you. It helps connect to a new network, see its status, manage share settings, or troubleshoot connectivity issues. When you need to troubleshoot a problem with your PC connecting to Wi-Fi, this is an efficient method of getting to the features you need. It even has legacy settings for connecting to dial-up or a corporate virtual private network.

4 Power management

When you need to adjust your PC's power plan or change battery settings, you can find several power features easily in God Mode. With the power features, you can change the action when you close your laptop’s lid, adjust what power buttons do, change when it goes to sleep, adjust your screensaver (yes, they still exist in Windows 11), and more. What’s nice about power settings in God Mode, and all features for that matter, is that they are broken down for quick and individual access.

3 Accessibility

Adjust dozens of accessibility settings

If you have a disability and need Windows' accessibility features, you can access all of them in God Mode. Even if your eyesight fails, you might need access to these features. Whatever your accessibility needs are, you can make the appropriate adjustments. There are dozens of advanced features available, like enabling the Magnifier tool, optimizing blindness display, changing the narrator's voice, turning on Screen Reader, replacing sound and visual cues, and more. There are dozens of settings here, allowing you to toggle accessibility features like Narrator, Magnifier, mouse pointer size, and more.

2 File Type Options

Manage file type app associations

It’s possible to manage which apps open specific files through the Settings app. Windows even asks which app to use for the first time. However, you can access the features to re-associate file types with specific apps, show or hide files, folders, extensions, and change file and folder options. Adjusting File types opens the Settings app. However, the settings to show or hide file extensions and hidden folders open in File Explorer options.

1 Windows Tools

Run built-in tools to maintain your system

Various built-in legacy system tools are buried throughout Windows 11, like Disk Cleanup, Task Scheduler, and Group Policy Editor. The Windows Tools section of God Mode has a dozen tools you can access from a central location. Instead of knowing where to navigate to find these types of tools, it’s much easier to have quick access to them. However, one annoyance is that the tools aren’t labeled by name. For instance, instead of being labeled as the Memory Diagnostics Tool or chkdsk, it is labeled as “Diagnose your computer’s memory problems.” But once you figure that out, it doesn’t take long to know what’s what.

There is plenty of third-party software out there, but some tools and apps are exclusive to Windows 11.

God Mode in Windows 11 makes it easy to access features

If you enable God Mode, you will have simple access to the system features you need. Whether something isn’t working right or you need to make adjustments, you can access what you need more quickly than through the Control Panel. The above advanced features aren’t only for power users. Even casual users can benefit from God Mode, and putting it in the Start menu and Quick Access in File Explorer allows quicker access than clicking the shortcut folder on the desktop. However, to take things further and gain access to more, you might want to check out “Super God Mode.”
