Samsung is finally opening preorders on its Odyssey 3D monitor. It's a 27-inch 4K display with a 165Hz refresh rate, but its big claim to fame is glasses-free 3D, which allows you to play supported games in 3D, as well as watch just about any video with automatic 2D-to-3D conversion. As usual, Samsung hasn't actually revealed the price of the monitor in the preorder, but if you reserve a monitor now, Samsung will give you $300 off when the display becomes available.
You can preorder Samsung's 2025 OLED lineup now
But prices remain a mystery for now
Samsung has been talking about the Odyssey 3D for more than two years now. It originally showed up as a prototype a couple of years back, where Samsung claimed the monitor would automatically and intelligently convert 2D games to 3D without any work from developers. As the display has worked its way from prototype to product, that rosy outlook has come back down to Earth. You can only use the 3D effect in supported games, but Samsung says the conversion will work for videos under certain circumstances.
Right now, Samsung says that 3D is working in The First Berserker: Khazan and Lies of P, the latter of which should be ready by the time the game's DLC releases this summer.
Samsung originally announced preorders in late March, but it ended up restricted to other regions. Alongside that original announcement, Samsung revealed the system requirements for the Odyssey 3D, where it recommended users have at least an RTX 3080 in order to perform the 2D-to-3D conversion. There are several other restrictions, too. You need an Nvidia graphics card, you can't use HDR or platforms with DRM, and the video needs to be in full screen mode.
Relax: Trump tariffs aren't hitting chips, at least not yet
Semiconductors are reportedly excluded from the import tax for now.
Samsung hasn't revealed the price for the display yet, but based on pricing in other regions, it should cost about $1,700. It's possible the final price could be higher due to U.S. tariffs on South Korea where Samsung is based, however.
Outside of the Odyssey 3D, Samsung is also offering its Odyssey OLED G81SF and Odyssey G91F for preorder with the same deal for up to $300 in Samsung credit. The OLED G81SF is a 27-inch 4K display sporting a 240Hz refresh rate, and we've seen monitors from brands like Alienware and Asus already rocking the same panel. The G91F is Samsung's behemoth 32:9 display for the year, clocking in at 49-inches with a dual QHD resolution and 165Hz refresh rate.
