What's better than snagging a new game on Steam? Buying one at a super cheap price, of course. Regardless of if the game is on a steep discount or if it just usually sells for pennies, there's always something great about grabbing a game without the usual post-purchase bank account regret.

If you want to hunt down some of the best-priced games on Steam, here's how I go about finding titles that are both on sale and just really cheap in general.

3 Using Steam's built-in search feature

You don't even need to leave the service

Have you prodded around Steam's search filters? It's really easy to forget that they're there, which is a shame, because they're very powerful. In fact, they're one of the easier ways to find cheap games on Steam, both discounted titles and affordable entries at full price.

To start, head to the Steam store page, then click the little magnifying glass next to the search bar. You can also visit the Steam search page directly. Once you're there, take a peek at the right; that's where all the tools are.

First of all, begin sliding the "narrow by price" marker to where you want it to go. At the time of writing, you don't have complete control over the scale, as you can only select specific brackets. However, you have enough control to get a ballpark figure of what you're willing to pay.

Once you've set up the price, you can click the "Discounts & Events" checkbox if you don't want to see games that are normally cheap. This will only show you titles that are on sale and are either at or below your chosen price. And if you want to skip the schlock, you can click the filter menu and select to sort by user reviews. That'll put all the well-rated titles right at the top.

That should be enough for a casual browse, but you can set more options on the right if you like. For instance, you can filter by only multiplayer games if you're looking for something new to play with your friends, or you can only show Steam Deck-verified titles.

2 Use GG Deals for more control

You can even see historical low prices

Using Steam's tools is fine if you just want deals on Steam itself, but there are third-party websites that sell Steam keys that also host sales. If you want the full gamut of games and storefronts, I recommend using GG Deals.

I use GG Deals in two ways. The first is if I want a specific title and I want to see how cheap I can get it. To do that, I punch in the game's name in the search bar and click the result I want. This brings me to a page that lists out all of the storefronts, key sellers, and bundles the game is in. It's a great way to see all the possibilities on a single page.

If I want to just browse which titles are on sale, I head over to the Steam Deals page and have a look. From here, I can filter by discount percentages, prices, and whether the deal ahs just started or is about to end. I can even tell the website to only show me deals that have gone on historical lows, which means the current price is either equal to or lower than the previous lowest discount. It's a great way to find titles that are cheaper than they've ever been.

1 Browse the Steam Deals subreddit

Have the deals come to you instead

If you prefer not to do the heavy lifting and want others to curate the best deals for you, there is the Steam Deals subreddit. When someone notices a good Steam sale going on, they'll visit this subreddit and make a post about it. And because Reddit has an upvote and downvote system in place, all of the best deals rise to the top as people give it a digital thumbs-up. Plus, if you use Reddit regularly, you can follow the subreddit and have the deals pop up in your feed every so often.
