Grand Theft Auto VI is one of, if not the most anticipated, games to be released in 2025. After seeing the first trailer for the next game in the GTA series, fans went wild and haven't recovered. Since then, the GTA community has eagerly awaited the second trailer. It has been over a year since the first trailer was shown, and fans have come up with some pretty wild theories about when they will see a second trailer for GTA VI.
Whether it is counting bullet holes in the image of a car, taking a paper out of context and blowing it up by monumental proportions, or going by the phase of the moon, it seems that GTA fans will believe anything if it means they might get to see a second trailer for the upcoming game. Here's everything you need to know about the wildest trailer release date theories for GTA VI.
3 The moon says it all
Wait until the next crescent phase
Something about the moon convinces people that special events or mystical phenomena will happen. Unfortunately, the reality is not always so amazing. Back in January, user Gtamen on X posted about the Lunar New Year Stunt Races for Grand Theft Auto V Online. In the post, the user pointed out that the devs could change the moon and that one of the maps had a slightly different moon than the others — a crescent moon, to be exact.
This realization immediately drew fans in, similar to the previous moon theory, which accurately predicted the release of the first GTA VI trailer. At the time, Rockstar released a promotional image with a large moon. The moon's phase then correlated with the time the first trailer was released. With that being said, it is easy to see why fans immediately thought that Rockstar could be using the same trick.
As part of the new moon theory, fans believed the release date for the second trailer would coincide with the crescent moon phase, which lasted from January 29, 2025, to February 5, 2025. Unfortunately, this never came to pass, or we would know a lot more about GTA VI than we currently do.

2 The numbers
They add up to 30
Speaking of promotional images, Rockstar releases them pretty often. In mid-January, It released a promotional image for the Vapid Dominator GT, an in-game car meant to represent the newer style of Ford Mustang. The image showcased the popular car in a shipyard surrounded by shipping containers. What drove fans wild were the numbers on the end of the container next to the vehicle.
User douknowwhyareuhere posted about the image on the GTA VI SubReddit and came up with a wild theory to boot. They added up all of the numbers on the back of the shipping container. Doing so got them the number 30. They then took the number two, which was placed inside a box on the container, and took it to mean that the second trailer for GTA VI would be dropping on January 30, 2025. The leap in logic for this one isn't completely absurd, since Rockstar has been known to perform some crazy stunts. Plus, Rockstar has a tendency to announce release dates at the end of January and the beginning of February before the Take-Two earnings call.
1 It's all on the 27th
Diving into the deepest GTA VI rabbit hole
Perhaps the wildest second trailer theory that GTA VI fans have come up with so far is the "27th theory." It all started when a Rockstar developer posted a picture of promotional items given to him by the development company as a Christmas gift. Fans quickly noticed that a piece of paper was sticking out under the table in the picture. Upon zooming in on said picture, fans noticed a phone number. This phone number led them to a business in Tallahassee, Florida called 27 Auto Sales.
GTA VI enthusiasts visited 27 Auto Sales in Florida. They called the company so much that it released a statement saying it had nothing to do with Rockstar and that it had no information about when the second trailer for GTA VI would be released. However, this didn't stop fans as a massive rabbit hole opened up, and they fell into it like Alice dropping into Wonderland.
27 Auto Sales wasn't the only evidence that the second trailer would be released on December 27, 2024. Fans also listed off various other clues, such as Florida being the 27th state, 27 Auto Sales being near the Waffle House that Rockstar used to design Hank's Waffles, Jason's Deli and Villa Lucia (Jason and Lucia being the game's main characters) being on the same road as the Waffle House, Bonnie and Clyde's aren't warrant being 1227, and that Rockstar was about to celebrate its 27th anniversary.
After seeing all the chaos unfold, the same Rockstar developer posted about it on his X page, saying, "Tip for next year: Don't accidentally leave notepads with vacation plans lying around when taking photos of merch." Fans are still uncertain whether it was all planned, an accident, or the greatest troll from a Rockstar employee to date.

There is still no second trailer for GTA VI
All of these theories have proven that fans of the Grand Theft Auto series are desperate to see more about GTA VI. They are so desperate that they are willing to believe just about anything if it means that there might be a second trailer for the upcoming game in the series. Perhaps Rockstar will humor fans and give them a true release date sometime before the fall, when the game will supposedly be released.
