HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal Al Saud, Chairman of AGFUND’s Board of Directors, welcomed Mr. Ibrahim Thiaw, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), at AGFUND’s headquarters, as part of his farewell visit marking the end of his cretary of the #UNCCD.
During the farewell visit, discussions focused on exploring joint collaboration, notably Saudi Arabia’s hosting of COP16, the launch of the Riyadh Global Drought Resilience Partnership, and the Global Flagship Initiative for Food Security.
Mr. Thiaw expressed his sincere appreciation to HRH Prince Abdulaziz for his unwavering support of global efforts to protect land resources and promote sustainable development. He also praised AGFUND’s role in advancing international cooperation to address the pressing challenges of desertification and drought.
