Etan Patz was abducted on this day in 1979 on his way to school in NYC. He was never found. The search for Etan gained nationwide press & led to the large-scale awareness of child abduction & missing children. 5/25 is designated as National Missing Children’s Day in his memory.

Today is the 42nd anniversary of Adam Walsh’s death. On July 27, 1981, 6-year-old Adam was abducted from a FL shopping mall. Two weeks later, Adam’s remains were discovered over 100 miles from his home. The Adam Walsh Child Protection & Safety Act of 2006 is named in his honor.

It’s the 15th anniversary of the Adam Walsh Child Protection & Safety Act of 2006. This legislation authorized the SMART Office & works to close gaps & loopholes that existed under prior law by establishing a federal baseline for sex offender registration & notification.
