South Delhi’s water crisis has exposed a problem that goes far beyond a few contaminated pipelines.
Residents of affluent colonies such as Gulmohar Park, Hauz Khas, Green Park and Sarvodaya Enclave reported foul-smelling, discoloured water, with some families falling ill from inal infections and skin irritation.
Experts say ageing pipelines, leaking sewer lines, low water pressure and decades-old infrastructure are creating conditions for contamination.
As Delhi grows and its water network ages, the challenge is no longer just supplying water — but ensuring that what reaches homes is actually safe to use and drink.
