- I was overwhelmed today as I watched Myanmar's UN ambassador's remarkable act of courage at the UN. Despite enormous pressure to do otherwise, he spoke up for the people of Myanmar and against an illegal coup. It's time for the world to answer that courageous call with action.
- The people of Myanmar appreciate words of support. But they need action more. Today 137 NGOs from around the world called for a global arms embargo. The UN Security Council should heed their call because it will make a difference AND because action speaks much louder than words.

- When will the generals notice that their escalating war on the people of Myanmar is building stronger opposition at home even as the civil disobedience movement (CDM) builds greater admiration and support in nations throughout the world? Probably when it's too late.
- Many outraged people of Myanmar will converge in Yangon today to oppose the junta and its sham trial of Aung San Suu Kyi & Pres Win Myint. They have a right to do so without the threat of detention or violence at the hands of the Tatmadaw. The world marches with you today!

- Looking forward to addressing the Special Session of the UN Human Rights Council on the coup in Myanmar tomorrow @ 10:00 AM Geneva time, 3:30 PM Yangon time. Here is the link if you can join: webtv.un.org/http://webtv.u…
- Today at the Special Session of the UN Human Rights Council, I quoted a CSO leader from Myanmar. While grateful for expressions of support, he said: “We need more than a statement on a piece of paper; we need real action from the United Nations.”
- The failure of the UN Security Council to even consider a strong resolution on Myanmar this week was regrettable. Using it as an excuse for inaction would be unacceptable. Coordinated international action to support those under siege & hold the junta accountable cannot wait.
- Today I told the UN Human Rights Council: The Tatmadaw must return to their barracks and consent to fundamental reforms that will end the impunity of their leaders while fully establishing accountability of the military to civilian control.
- Heartbroken/outraged at news of the largest number of protesters murdered by Myanmar security forces in a single day. Junta leaders don't belong in power, they belong behind bars. Their supply of cash & weapons must be cut now. I appeal to UN member states to heed my call to act.
- It is time for UN member states to set a new standard for robust, unified action by imposing unrelenting sanctions on the junta of Myanmar. Here are my closing remarks to the UN Human Rights Council. tinyurl.com/ttr2k2nstinyurl.com/4bufzr7w
