It is a privilege and an honour to be nominated as the candidate of the joint opposition for the post of Vice President of India. I accept this nomination with great humility and thank the leaders of the opposition for the faith they’ve put in me.

- The TMC's decision to abstain from voting in the VP election is disappointing. This isn't the time for 'whataboutery’, ego or anger. This is the time for courage, leadership & unity. I believe, @MamataOfficial , who is the epitome of courage, will stand with the opposition.
- Dear BSNL/ MTNL, After speaking to some friends in the BJP today, all calls to my mobile are being diverted & I'm unable to make or receive calls. If you restore the phone. I promise not to call any MP from the BJP, TMC or BJD tonight. ❤️ Margaret Ps. You need my KYC now?
- The fear that ‘Big Brother’ is always watching & listening permeates all conversations between politicians across party lines in ‘new’ India. MPs & leaders of parties carry multiple phones, frequently change numbers & talk in hushed whispers when they meet. Fear kills democracy.
- Happy to see @INCIndia hit the streets under the leadership of @RahulGandhi & @priyankagandhi. The party has always stood for the rights of the marginalised and oppressed. Wish I was there.
- Having known #JyotiradityaScindia from his school days I am pained to see him go to the BJP at a time when the nation and the world sees clearly what their agenda is. Personal ambition will see a man of promise burn himself.
- The events unfolding in #Rajasthan are deeply disappointing, unfortunate & unnecessary. Senior leaders in the state must be prepared to sacrifice personal ambition & take their cue from @RahulGandhi who has shown what the Congress needs the most right now is selfless service.

- Congratulations and best wishes to Droupadi Murmu Ji on her election as President of India. May she shine bright and inspire young women from all across India to follow in her footsteps.
- The comments by the Governor of Maharashtra are unfortunate, but not unexpected. The message he’s received from the ex Governor of W.Bengal’s candidature for VP is: controversy, foolish comments & operating like an extra constitutional authority, is behaviour that gets rewarded.
