Tags angstA feeling of general discomfort and uneasiness is present due to either trivial or more serious reasons, often accompanied by depression. Warning: may contain copious amounts of brooding and sighing. Etymology: "Angst" is a German word meaning fear or anxiety., coming of ageIn the strict sense the Coming of age describes a young person`s transition from adolescence to adulthood. In anime the term is used in a more general sense where the protagonists have to face a challenge, make an important decision in their life, take on responsibility, or learn a lesson, and by overcoming these obstacles they reach a higher level of maturity., contemporary fantasyMagic and supernatural beings exist secretly in what is generally regarded as the real world. Such elements may have originated from another world. Stories where a modern-day character travels to an alternate fantasy world are not considered contemporary fantasy., fantasyImaginative or fanciful work, especially one dealing with supernatural elements and themes., magicMagic is the art of purportedly manipulating aspects of reality either by supernatural means or through knowledge of unknown occult laws., newNot based on anything, the story is a new work, usually made up by the people involved in creating the anime. Generally if an original work (原作) credit is given, it will be to the studio, or director, or other members of the production team., robot helperIn a science fiction setting, the robot helper is, in a comedic sense, pretty much equivalent to what the "cute comic relief animal sidekick" is in a fantasy setting. The usually small machine has artificial intelligence, enabling it to support their owner / master with advice or help with menial tasks.

Androids should not be considered robot helpers since these are far more complex; use the android tag instead.

Both have a blue haired MC with depression, psychological horror and surreal dreamscapes. They are similar in terms of setting (facing inner demons by fighting monsters in a surreal dimension) and atmosphere. Both have excellent animation and very detailed designs.

Both are whimsical animes which follows girls who find themselves in a wild world. The same kind of wacky energy is present in both with the cast finding themselves thrust into bizarre situations while also suffering personal tension that they eventually find a way to pull through.

Little Witch Academia has its main character take a route much like Asta from Black Clover. A nobody who purposely thrust herself into a world of magic to better herself. Though she does so to become as dazzling as the witch who inspired her from the very start.

Flip Flappers follows a girl who is seemingly thrust into a bizarre situation after a wild encounter with a wacky magical girl. Yet she finds herself drawn in as she eventually finds herself having a personal stake in the matters she thought irrelevant to her.

While both have vastly different approaches, you will find that both are equally as dazzling and have a significant personal stake with their cast. All with silly shenanigans.

Amazing. It's mostly about friendship but there are some darker moments. I mean, you've probably already watched at least one mahou shoujo anime, so you get the basic idea.
Flip Flappers is incredibly cute, the atmosphere just sucks you in from the first episode to the last. It's a bit like an enchantment.

bizarre, artsy, nonsensical, amazing?
a surreal experience, go into it with an open mind and it's worth the watch.

great artwork and animation.
the plot leaves something to be desired. writing certainly came secondary to the atmosphere and creative aspects of the show.
somewhat fanservicy at times, but is fairly mild and doesn't feel overly gratuitous.
still manages to be strangely captivating despite its flaws.

Mix of "Alice in Wonderland" and mahou shoujo with hints of Miyazaki's "Kaze no Tani no Nausicaä". Fan service for male audience is subtly mixed in and shown as something natural, during some simple things/actions. Has some similarities with "Puella Magi Madoka Magica". Was funny to hear again voice of Jun Fukushima (Kazuma from "Konosuba"). Art of ending is great.

This show is visually fantastic. The content is incredibly vapid, made it difficult to go on.

As others have stated, this is an Alice in Wonderland-type story; a surreal fantasy world. The artwork is really good, almost in a modern sort of picture-book style. The action scenes are cool, too. Age-wise, I'd say the plot and 'exploring friendship' concept is geared toward early teens girls, but as with a lot of anime, the quality of the show makes it appropriate for people of any gender or age. This show is an excellent one to introduce someone to the wide world of anime without scaring them off. While watching this, I felt the show was truly immersive with just enough vagueness to the plot (and the world in particular) to make me want to know more about what the creators were plotting. Even with a template plot, the story is pretty well told... and really not over the top.

Wow I never enjoyed being so confused and bombarded with so many weird unexplained magic! Its wonderful!

It started off by throwing you down the Alice's rabbit hole and next thing you know; you are like a little child bright eyes at a glittering carnival wonderland.

FliFla is confusing, strange, weird but surprisingly easy to follow; that's how good the plot is. The plot also enjoys a few good twist with good pacing in unfolding clues and events. And the major characters are all very well like and linked. I really enjoyed its art and animation as well - its like the animators just went wild each week with diff themes and color palettes. The art is so good because its so surreal. Like seriously the art is good! It's a world weave frm imagination.

All in, FliFla gave me "a kid at a carnival wonderland with bright glittering eyes" vibe. Its magical girl, parallel world, twisty plots adventure. MUST WATCH. And I dare say best anime for 2016! Favorited and 10/10!

These shoes make the wearer taller, accentuating the calf muscle and the length of the leg overall. This means that the ribbon, with or without a bow loop, is tying a collar that is cut close to the neck (i.e. not a low-cut collar); otherwise, the ribbon is just a common case of ribbons on clothes. female, 7.69 (19), hair ribbonHair ribbons are ribbons used both as hair decorations and as hair ties. Hair ribbons are often tied into bows. They may also be present as part of a hairband. In older anthropomorphic series, where the gender of characters was sometimes hard to tell at first glance, ribbon bows were used to indicate a female character., pink hair highlightsno description set, purple eyesThis character`s eyes are colored somewhere between red and blue., scarf tieA scarf tie is an item that would ordinarily be a scarf, but which is being used to tie a collar, typically a low-cut collar, well below the neck line, or attached in a similar way. Scarf ties are a common part of the sailor uniform frequently seen worn by Japanese schoolgirls. A scarf tie is not to be confused with a regular scarf; they should be treated separately. It is also not a ribbon tie; in fact, despite the name, a scarf tie is not a type of tie at all., school uniformA type of uniform worn in Japanese schools (called "seifuku" in Japanese), generally high school age or younger. They can vary considerably; commonly, females will wear a sailor uniform (modelled off the British Royal Navy uniforms in 1920) and males will often wear a "gakuran", which is a dark button-up uniform modelled off Prussian army uniforms. But expect to see a substantial amount of variety., yellow hairThe character has yellow hair. This does not map precisely to real-life blond hair.
