This is a good anime based on a game IMO.
Is there going to be more episodes than four to this anime? It ends kind of suddenly. I know how it really ends because I have played this game, so there should be more episodes. This post was edited by cevec (286557) on 18.08.2008 16:59.

I agree, and in the end of ep4 is sees “end hear Sylvarant” and “begin hear Tethe’alla” I am not shore if the subbers added this or not but if it isn’t them then I am shore that they are working on a follow-up on this OVA… maybe even make it to a completeseries… This post was edited by habanero (230945) on 20.08.2008 23:13.

This anime is way too short. After watching Tales of the Abyss and having the game as well, I thought I should watch this anime as well, since I never played the game. However, considering how short the anime is, the anime is either shortened to a large extent or the characters are poorly developed. Nonetheless, since a sequel of Tales of Symphonia came out, it would be nice to watch the whole anime However, each episode is also longer, rather time consuming...

I'm guessing that there's not gonna be a continuation anytime soon, at least from Ufotable, since they're neck deep in Kara no Kyoukai at the moment. However, I'd like to see them continue this sometime, but only after they've done Tsukihime (please do this, Ufotable!!!!).

Subpar adaptation of one of my favourite jRPGs. Tales of the Abyss weathered the transition to anime far better.

Okay, I played through the game like 30 times before I heard that the anime was coming out... I freaked out and told my best friend.... she started to cry...
I liked this anime but it wasn't as good as the game. I was hoping to be able to figur eout the storyline due to my prior knowledge of the game but it was different.....
I was a tad bit sad but I still liked the anime xD

these 4 ovas were entertaining... the next ovas should be good. There is also confirmation on OVAs that go after Tethe'alla Hen, but no release date as of yet

Mostly, this is an otherwise generic fantasy quest that has nice combat choreography and interesting development in the form of Collet's condition. Though things start getting a little weird in the fourth episode with its heavier sci-fi elements.

The shortened storyline didn't really feel all that rushed to me, the lack of plodding between key destinations being a plus, with the exception of the scenes at the 2nd (the 'boss' battle was extremely short) and 3rd (there wasn't even a fight) shrines.

There are lots of things that doesn't make much sense or are left without explanation here, maybe if I had played the games they would make sense but as a standalone, I find this lacking. Also, since there are 2 sequels to this so there is a chance they'll explain stuff later too.
In any case, I find both story and chars to be shallow making this a very generic and lackluster anime.

Colette won't need that final seal to look like she did after a night with me if you know what I mean *pauses for laughter*. Though seriously, the plot itself was pretty simple and doesn't have any really profound message or deep meaning to it. This season ended on a little ominous note, but everything's going to be alright, I swear that love, friendship and courage will prevail (again) in the end.
