From Waste to Resource: A Characterization-Based Framework for Sustainable Mine Tailings Management

๐Ÿ‘ Image
Frances Chikanda*, Ebelia Manda and Tsubasa Otake

Aspects in Mining & Mineral Science -

Mine tailings are among the most persistent environmental legacies of mineral extraction. Traditionally, they have been treated as waste materials requiring containment, monitoring, and rehabilitation. However, increasing demand for critical minerals, advances in processing technologies, and growing interest in circular economy approaches are changing this view. Tailings are no longer only end-products of mining; they may also represent secondary resources, environmental liabilities, and reactive materials for remediation and carbon removal. This mini-review proposes a characterization-based framework for sustainable tailings management. The first and most important step is detailed characterization of mineralogy, chemistry, acid-generating potential, metal mobility, physical stabil.....

๐Ÿ‘ Image
Pavle Vesiฤ‡*

Determinations in Nanomedicine & Nanotechnology -

This paper proposes the Charge Neutralization Process (CNP) as an informational framework for understanding adaptive biological organization across multiple scales. The model integrates concepts from quantum information theory, systems biology, thermodynamics, cybernetics, and neuroscience to explore how biological systems maintain stability under continuous environmental perturbation. Within the proposed framework, living systems are interpreted as open informational structures that continuously minimize locally generated entropy through boundary-regulated stabilization dynamics. The model reinterprets biological boundaries-particularly those described by the Markov Blanket formalismas active interfaces mediating energetic exchange, informational persistence, and adaptive feedback. .....

๐Ÿ‘ Image
Rainer Thomas*

Aspects in Mining & Mineral Science -

The Ehrenfriedersdorf tin deposit in the Erzgebirge of Saxony, Germany, is one of the classic Variscan tin districts of Central Europe and has long been regarded as an important example of granite-related cassiterite mineralization. The Sauberg mine and its associated granite-pegmatite-greisen system preserve an unusually rich record of ore formation, including melt and fluid inclusions, cassiterite microtextures, and high-pressure mineral phases. These features make Ehrenfriedersdorf significant not only as a historical mining locality but also as a key natural laboratory for understanding the origin and transport of tin in evolved felsic systems. Geologically, the deposit is hosted by specialized Variscan granites and their associated pegmatites, veins, and greisens. Cassiterite .....

Understanding Authoritarianism from a Socio-Psychological Perspective

๐Ÿ‘ Image
Johannes Twardella

Psychology and Psychotherapy: Research Study -

What is the phenomenon to be explained? It is referred to as โ€œauthoritarianism,โ€ but what does this term entail? If, at the level of constitutional theory, it is assumed that life practice (Life practice) is characterized by the contradiction between the compulsion to decide (Forced to make decisions) and the obligation to justify (Obligation to give reasons) [1], then it can be said that the phenomenon of authoritarianism is grounded in the following: A life practice delegates its inherent capacity to make autonomous decisions-and to bear the associated responsibility, which manifests itself not least in an obligation to justify-to another authority (instance). The decision, as well as the responsibility tied to it, is relinquished to this authority; The life practice defers t.....

๐Ÿ‘ Image
Henghua Yan*

Examines in Marine Biology & Oceanography -

Due to the era limitation of acknowledgement, there are some contradictory items in the existing longitude system of the Earth since the prime meridian and the international date line are marked artificially to satisfy the need of seaborne trade in1880s. Based on the evolution theory of the ancient plates distribution and the oceans, the longitude system of the Earth could be updated to the plus version smoothly by exchanging the marking location of the prime meridian and the international date line along the anticlockwise rotating of the Earth. Thus, it would get even more reasonable and harmonious with nature and human activities on the Earth. Such as it could be found the solid support in the updating plus version of longitude system of the Earth to explain why the eastern and wester.....

Bronchiectasis as a Disorder of Microbial Ecosystem Imbalance: From Dysbiosis to Precision Therapeutics

๐Ÿ‘ Image
Chetana Pendkar* and Saiyara Shama

Novel Techniques in Nutrition & Food Science -

Bronchiectasis has traditionally been viewed as a chronic airway disease driven primarily by persistent bacterial infection and neutrophilic inflammation. Advances in microbiome research suggest that airway dysbiosis, characterized by reduced microbial diversity and depletion of commensal organisms, is associated with disease progression. Culture-independent analyses reveal that bronchiectatic airways harbor polymicrobial communities, in which ecological imbalance often correlates more strongly with clinical outcomes than the presence of individual pathogens. Emerging evidence indicates that depletion of commensal taxa such as Prevotella, Veillonella, and Rothia mucilaginosa is associated with reduced anti- inflammatory signaling, potentially contributing to an environment permissiv.....

Peculiarities of the Titanium-Containing Inclusions Influence on the Weld Metal Microstructure Formation

๐Ÿ‘ Image
Viktor Holovko*

Aspects in Mining & Mineral Science -

The peculiarities of the nn-metallic inclusions containing titanium influence on the low-alloy steels weld metal microstructure formation were studied. It was shown that ferrotitanium and titanium oxides inoculation into the welding bath promotes the amorphous manganese silicate inclusions formation with a layer of crystalline (Ti,Mn) oxides on the surface. In the case of titanium carbide inoculation, the content of multiphase morphology inclusions in the weld metal increases, which have an external layer with a high carbon content on the surface. It was shown that the mechanism of AF nucleation may be different depending on the nature of the titanium-containing phase located on the inclusions surface. The zone depleted in manganese content formation mechanism is triggered in the ca.....

Case Report: Stillโ€™s Disease in an 11-Month-Old Child

๐Ÿ‘ Image
Halyna Bulak

Research in Pediatrics & Neonatology -

Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA, Stillโ€™s disease) in children was first described by George Frederick Still in 1896 in Great Britain. In 1971 E.G. Bywaters identified and described in detail the adult form-the so called adult-onset Stillโ€™s disease. This was an important step in distinguishing between childrenโ€™s and adultsโ€™ manifestations of the disease, and since then the world literature has clearly differentiated juvenile and adult forms, although modern recommendations (EULAR/PReS 2024) treat them as a single spectrumStillโ€™s disease. sJIA is a rare systemic inflammatory disease, diagnosed based on clinical signs and supported by laboratory and instrumental findings; it remains a diagnosis of exclusion. In the treatment strategy for sJIA, nonsteroidal antiโ€‘inf.....

Haider Ali, Maqbool Hussain*, Gulam Ali and Shafqat Munir

Biodiversity Online Journal -

The persistent pollution of textile wastewater by toxic azo dyes necessitates the development of efficient photocatalysts for solar-driven environmental remediation. In this study, cerium oxide (CeO2 ) nanohybrids were individually doped with nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co) via a facile sol-gel method to overcome the inherent UV-light dependency of the pristine material. Ni- and Co-doped CeO2 nanoparticles were synthesized using precursor molar ratios of 1:150 and 1:50, respectively. Comprehensive characterization confirmed the successful incorporation of Ni and Co into the CeO2 fluorite cubic lattice without the formation of secondary phases. Structural analysis revealed a uniform, spherical morphology with an average particle size of approximately 15nm. Crucially, the introduction of dopants.....
