Gamesman est l'utilisation de méthodes douteuses pour gagner ou gagner un avantage sérieux dans un jeu ou un sport. Il a été décrit comme "Pousser les règles à la limite sans être pris, en utilisant les méthodes douteuses possibles pour atteindre la fin désirée". On peut en déduire que le terme dérive de l'idée de jouer pour le jeu par opposition à l'esprit sportif, qui découle de l'idée de jouer au sport. Le terme provient du livre humoristique de Stephen Potter de 1947, The Theory and Practice of Gamesman. Gamesmanship is the use of dubious methods to win or gain a serious advantage in a game or sport. It has been described as "Pushing the rules to the limit without getting caught, using whatever dubious methods possible to achieve the desired end". It may be inferred that the term derives from the idea of playing for the game as opposed to sportsmanship, which derives from the idea of playing for sport. The term originates from Stephen Potter's humorous 1947 book, The Theory and Practice of Gamesmanship .
