Authorities preparing raider takeover of European Solidarity office – Herashchenko
The authorities are preparing a raider takeover of the European Solidarity party's office, co-chair of the party's parliamentary faction Iryna Herashchenko said at a briefing on Monday.
"As European Solidarity has reliably learned, the authorities are preparing a new provocation against our political team. The next step is an attempt to evict us from the office, despite a valid lease agreement and the premises being paid three months in advance," Herashchenko said at the briefing.
She said the party was appealing to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko not to allow the Interior Ministry's activities to be politicized. She added that the party remembered the Yanukovych era, when the ministry was used as a bludgeon against the opposition.
According to Herashchenko, the authorities have no complaints about other political forces, including Servant of the People or former representatives of the Party of Regions, while European Solidarity faces constant pressure.
MP Viktoria Siumar said the party's office has hosted a hub assisting the military and civilians since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. "The Poroshenko team's assistance to AFU brigades has already exceeded UAH 8 billion. Any attempts to evict us we see as interference with volunteer work and support for the army," she said.
Siumar also said international meetings with EU ambassadors and educational courses for young people were scheduled for the next day. She added that if the authorities resorted to a forceful takeover, it would be a final blow to trust in Ukraine and an attempt to purge the opposition.
