Incidents
[edit]http://avherald.com/h?article=4aeff1ac
I do not believe that this incident merits inclusion but am presenting it here. The plane went into severe turbulence, injuring both flight attendants, one with serious injuries. Currently, inclusion requires death, causing major change in procedures, or serious damage to the plane. Vanguard10 (talk) 18:00, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[]
Intro paragraphs
[edit]I don't think the comments about McCafe or WestJet Dollars make a ton of sense sitting in the intro body. MattBinYYC (talk) 21:33, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[]
Baggage & other fees?
[edit]Readers will want to know what fees this low cost carrier charges beyond in-cabin food. They should be added to the article. β Lentower (talk) 13:34, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[]
Why was this today's featured article
[edit]Seems like an infomercial. Why would anyone care about a 5 year old airline? Has it done anything great, is it historically interesting, will anyone remember it in 10 years? β Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.55.103.39 (talk) 00:00, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[]
Primary sources banners and FAR?
[edit]@Left guide: I noticed that in December 2023 you added a bunch of primary sources banners to this article. Since this is a featured article, can you outline your concerns below so this can be formally noticed? If you are interested, you can also bring this article to featured article review in two weeks if no one addresses your concerns. Thanks, Z1720 (talk) 01:24, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[]
- Hi Z1720, thanks for pinging me, I made that edit run quite a while ago, so I don't remember everything I was thinking then, but the gist of it is that it seemed unusual and surprising for a featured article to rely so heavily on primary sources (typically the airline's own website), hence the tags. From a cursory glance at the references of the FA-promoted version back in 2018, it looks like that version had fewer primary sources. Perhaps raising this at the airlines WikiProject talk page, and seeing if any of the folks there might be willing to shore up this article with independent references would be a good idea before taking it to featured article review. - @Z1720 and @Left guide, it's at FAR now, in case either of you care. JustARandomSquid (talk) 13:15, 23 January 2026 (UTC)[]
- Please allow time for article improvement. I declare that I am committing to fixing the article. Please do not prematurely kill it. I will periodically update how progress is being made or if an effort is being abandoned. Others may participate at any time. Vanguard10 (talk) 02:56, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[]
- Update 1: work has begun. Work that has not begun but will start soon is to cover how the YYZ base closed and all cities in Ontario and east have been discontinued with the exception of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Vanguard10 (talk) 03:11, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[]

To do list for FAR
[edit]This is from the FAR. (numbering added)
1 Still a few paragraphs that are just one or two sentences, and a lot of links that are dead that need archive links, including at least one permanently dead one.
2 I see a bare URL, plus the duplicate references issue mentioned above. A ton of citation needed tags, though it's possible some of them are confirmed in the article body.
3 There's a reference in the lead, which I believe is frowned upon these days, and I'm not sure all the lead facts are supported in the body (the deadheading thing, say).
4 Bear in mind I haven't thoroughly checked any of the references, so it's also possible not all sources are reliable (I mean, awardwallet.com doesn't exactly inspire confidence).
5 One thing I also noticed is that the source for "Financial statistics are not released separately for WestJet Encore but reported for WestJet Airlines, Ltd., which comprises several units and the larger WestJet Airlines." is a decade old.
6 I'd also reconsider whether all facts that are cited exclusively to primary sources are actually necessary in the article, eg. "WestJet Encore flights are numbered as flight 3100 to 3899"
--- I will work on this. Vanguard10 (talk) 21:00, 10 May 2026 (UTC)[]
- Hey, the citation needed tags are not confirmed in the article body. It's also unsourced that Lisa Davis is the vice president & general manager. The article body only says that she had that position in 2022.
- From my side the pieces of information with a cn tag and mentioning Lisa Davis in the infobox can be deleted as I am not aware that there is a sufficiently good reference for all that. WikiPate (talk) 13:18, 11 May 2026 (UTC)[]
- I phoned Westjet and they said that Lisa Davis is no longer with Westjet Encore but then they wrongly started being suspicious with me.
- This information may point me in the right direction or maybe I will call in a few days. If I get a name, then I can search for citations to confirm this information. In Wikipedia, many editors know information then try to find citations. That is acceptable. The alternative is not very good; editors who know nothing but try to write an article.
