Among those backing the decision was IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti, who has repeatedly warned about what he described as a "vulnerability" in Telegram that allows users to alter messages and even attached files without changing the original timestamp.
NTA DG pointed out that the NEET re-exam had to be organised in just 37 days, compared to the usual five to six months of preparation time. Question paper setting, proofreading, translation into 13 languages, printing of 22 lakh papers and transportation all had to be compressed into that window.
To avail the facility, students appearing for NEET UG 2026 are required to produce their examination hall ticket at the time of boarding an APSRTC bus.
The dedicated reporting portal is available at innovateindia.mygov.in/neet-ug-2026, and allows students and members of the public to flag instances of alleged malpractice.
The announcement comes as the agency begins the process of refunding examination fees to candidates following the cancellation of the earlier NEET UG 2026 examination.
