A command block is a mysterious type of block pivotal to the plot of Minecraft Mini-Series, used by all three hosts of the show to manage production.

Appearance

[edit | edit source]

The object resembles an impulse command block, being primarily orange with beige diamonds and a throbbing, metal core. However, due to the show's art style, it's depicted in a minimalist, "chibi" presentation. The colors are lighter, with all detail gone, beveled edges, and the diamond straps outlined. Unlike other depictions, the diamonds on the fronts of the block are all symmetrical.

Later episodes depict command blocks in unique sequences and formations. The one used by Poseidon comes in the shape of a trident, exactly 17 meters tall, with two arms in a worm-like shape and a block of emerald in the center. Zeus meanwhile has a far more impressive statue, based into a large Greek citadel that appears to be either decoration or additional hardware, primarily composed of pillars, braziers, and roofs. Befitting his theme, his is in the shape of a lightning bolt, and is at least 54 meters tall.

Properties

[edit | edit source]

The command block can be used to alter the game's mechanics, as shown by its ability to teleport the participants, summon walls, and make mobs despawn, all of which are done instantly. Any action it performs causes a teleportation sound to play. However, its downside is that its coding system is so complicated that it requires CommuniKate to constantly carry a book of commands in order to use the command block.

As established in season 2, the power of a command block can be increased by combining several, described as a statue. This is revealed to be the source of Poseidon and Zeus's powers, giving them powers equal to that of a god, which they're able to control through a golden trident and lightning bolt respectively. However, they can also be used independently, seemingly by just touching them and willing a command. When powered in this state, they appear to glow.

With a certain command, the block is capable of self destruction, creating a mildly noticeable crater in the process. Prior to detonation, it glows fuchsia.

At the start of the challenge, CommuniKate used the command block to teleport the five teams to the Spooky Isles. However, when trying to summon Team Woodland, the team spawned high up above a pool.

Later, CommuniKate used the command blocks to teleport eliminated teams to the obsidian cage on Arena Island. First, in The Abandoned Mineshaft, she teleported Eve to the cage after Vin fell in a pool of lava. Then, on Eerie Island, she teleported Slugger after thinking Mo died during the explosion of the shelter. Finally, she banished Rudi during The Challenge of Ice and Magma after Sacha starved to death. During the finale of the season, the contestants all figured out a plan to rebel against CommuniKate, abusing her alektorophobia to cause her to lose the handbook.
