Saplings were blocks that could be planted on buildplates and would grow into trees after some time.

Obtaining

[edit | edit source]

Breaking leaves

[edit | edit source]

Breaking leaves placed on a buildplate had a chance to drop a sapling.[citation needed]

Tappables

[edit | edit source]

Interacting with Tree Tappables that spawn in the real world occasionally rewarded the player with saplings.[citation needed]

Chests

[edit | edit source]

Saplings could also appear as loot inside chest tappables and adventure chests.[citation needed]

Usage

[edit | edit source]

Growing trees

[edit | edit source]

Placing a sapling on dirt, grass block, coarse dirt, farmland, or podzol within a buildplate in a 1Γ—1 formation or 2Γ—2 formation allowed it to grow into a tree after roughly 30 seconds of real‑world time, provided sufficient space was available.[citation needed]

Each sapling could be used as furnace fuel, smelting 0.5 items.[citation needed]

Composting

[edit | edit source]

Adding a sapling to a composter had a 30% chance to raise the compost level by 1.[citation needed]

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Unlike in the Java and Bedrock editions, saplings in Minecraft Earth were not stackable and occupied one inventory slot each.[citation needed]
