Good-faith proposal stemming from a misunderstanding of how the wiki works; not actionable. | violine1101 (talk) 09:47, 25 October 2025 (UTC)

I suggest revamping the categories. Currently, the tabs are Minecraft, Movie, Dungeons, Legends, Story Mode, and Earth. BUT, if you press search, MANY other categories are hidden. The categories, including those, are Main, Talk, User, User Talk, Minecraft Wiki, Minecraft Wiki Talk, File, File Talk, MediaWiki, MediaWiki Talk, Template, Template Talk, Help, Help Talk, Category, Category Talk, Module, Module Talk, Bucket, Bucket Talk, Dungeons, Dungeons Talk, Earth, Earth Talk, Story Mode, Story Mode Talk, Legends, Legends Talk, Forum, Forum Talk, Tutorial, Tutorial Talk, Movie, Movie Talk, 302, 303, 308, 309, 312, and 313. I have no idea what File, MediaWiki, Category, Module, Bucket, 302, 303, 308, 309, 312, and 313 are. Please explain to me what these are! So, aside from those, here is my suggestion: Minecraft, Movie, Legends, Dungeons, Story Mode, Earth, Tutorials, Non-Games, Meta, Other, and Talk. Non-games are pages that are still Minecraft, but not from a game. For example, Minecraft LIVE, Minecraft Experience, novels, etc. Meta is the Meta wiki, because I don't know why they didn't merge them. Other is any other things, like wiki tools (I could not think of anything else),etc. Now for the OTHER stuff. First, the icons, all games keep their logo, but Movie is the Orb of Dominance, Tutorials is a lucky block, Non-Games is the Minecraft Logo but upside-down and the colors are inverted, Other is the Minecraft Wiki logo but 2D, and Meta is the Meta logo but 2D. Now let's discuss "themes". What I mean by themes is the blocks in the background, like the grass blocks in the top and stone and ores in the bottom. Minecraft is ACTUALLY Minecraft, because the current design is not vanilla. Movie could be tweaked, because right now they just, like...used a realistic texture pack. It should actually fit in, from the custom flowers to the slightly rounded blocks. Legends could actually, again, be fitting to the real game, so the yellow mushroom things and the campfire. Dungeons should be the nether(πŸ”₯πŸ—£πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ—£). Story Mode should be a mine(don't blame me, I haven't played the game). Earth? It could just be real life. My idea for tutorials is interesting, just put a bajillion modded items in there, with the flowers being question mark shaped, and the ores being replaced with lucky blocks. Non-Games could be similar to the logo, so bedrock at the top and grass at the bottom(and of course, it has inverted colors). Meta could just be its current design, and Other could be the original theme for Minecraft.

This is my first forum topic, constructive criticism is appreciated! – Unsigned comment added by Teddy14 (talk β€’ contribs) at 00:05, 10 October 2025 (UTC). Please sign comments with ~~~~

What you just said has nothing to do with the categories at all besides the introduction, and you're asking more about other non-related suggestions, therefore I consider this forum talk to be invalid. β€“πŸ‘ Image

By the way, what you are calling categories are what the wiki calls "Namespace" Mudscape πŸ‘ Image

 Oppose
1. File, MediaWiki, Category, Module, and Bucket are all technical namespaces for the wiki. We cannot remove these namespaces. And, all non-game or other contents like you said belong to the main namespace.
2. I have no idea about the movie namespace icon, but we cannot use lucky block or Minecraft logo as a icon. Lucky block is not related to tutorial namespace and see why we cannot use a Minecraft logo as a icon here.
3. πŸ‘ Image
Neutral about other skins, but tutorial pages aren't for mods or add-ons. No reason to change skins like that way. πŸ‘ Image

Okay, but the main namespace has too much of a wide range. It goes from those to regular Minecraft pages too. Isn't it weird that Oak, Apple TV Edition, and Minecraft Mini-Series are in the same namespace? Teddy14 (talk) 23:27, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
The point of namespaces is to deal with overlap. Major spin-offs always have to adapt or reuse things from vanilla, like the movie having its own take on Steve. Secondary material like the books on the other hand tend to be standalone or focus on doing their own thing. There isn’t going to be a Durango in vanilla so there’s little point distinguishing the Mini-Series character, but there is a zombie mob in Dungeons different from the zombies in all other spin-offs. I’m not opposed to having more but it would need to make things easier for readers. Realshow19 (talk) 23:35, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
And if we are not allowed to use it, why are we using it right now? The Minecraft, Minecraft Legends, and Minecraft Dungeons logo are the same as the logo themselves. Teddy14 (talk) 23:29, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
I used the lucky block because it uses a question mark. Tutorials show what you are trying to learn, giving you information, and lucky blocks show a question mark. It was just a cool thing I did, so..yeah. Teddy14 (talk) 23:33, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

Oppose Good faith proposal, but a lot of ideas that don’t seem to understand how the wiki operates. Removing the file namespace for one would mean removing all images on the website. Realshow19 (talk) 14:41, 14 October 2025 (UTC)
Ah, okay. Thanks for the information. Teddy14 (talk) 23:33, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
